Sajsa väckte mig tidigt för att ta en biltur till städerna Vladimir och Suzdal. Chauffören Ilya tog självmant på sig uppdraget som guide.

Ilya: (förstår engelska men pratar ogärna) svorsdi svorsdi Ollye zpornsdy veketarian?
Sajsa: Yes, Ilya wonders why are you a vegetarian?
Olle: Well I started because I didn't want to eat another living thing and because they make them grow up in these small cages and have no good life. I was very young then. Now I still believe the same thing, but maybe its ok to eat an animal if you keep them yourself on a farm you know?
Ilya: hmmmm..... so no meat? no fish?
Olle: No. I eat milk and eggs though.
Ilya (till Sajsa): Svorsdi svorsdi Olka rezpra fabryk?
Sajsa: And because you became a vegetarian, you think this evil industry will stop?
Olle: No, I think if more people are vegetarian and we eat less meat, then maybe the conditions of the industry could be better. Also it is much worse for the environment, to produce meat than vegetarian food.
Ilya: But I don't understand this egg. It could have life and then you eat it!
Olle: Yes, well it is not a chicken yet. And the chicken who laid the egg doesn't die from laying it.
Sasja: Yes, but it could become a chicken!
Olle: Eh... it... it doesn't have to be 100% konsekvent... how do you say it, it doesn't have to make sense to me. I just decide, I eat this and not this, and on the whole it is better and it makes me feel good. Maybe you could say it is like a religious diet, you decide you don't eat certain things and live by it as a rule and it makes you feel good to do so.
Ilya: So, it is philosophical?
Olle: Yes! It is philosophical!

Sasja: This symbolizes christian victory over the moozlims.

Det som fångade mitt intresse med detta plakat är att de kallar Sovjets medverkan i andra världskriget för The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Jag provade att fråga vilket krig en skön kommunistuniform var från och Sasja savarade bara "The Great War".

Jag och Sasja framför katedralen i Vladimir. Den har originalmålningar av Andrei Rublov, känd från Tarkovskij-filmen med samma namn!!!!! Dessutom låg den gamle Vladimir själv i liksvepning och höll i ett svärd därinne! Inga foton tillåtna såklart då :P
